What are the signs of a worn-out cartridge?
- You start getting white "streaks" in your output graphics may not fill and printed characters might appear incomplete. This is indicative of a burnt-out cartridge, but might NOT be the only cause get the cartridge tested.
- Dramatically lighter print than normal. This could mean the resistors are weakening and the cartridge just might be nearing its "use-by" date! Cleaning the contacts with some alcohol or water to ensure that the contacts inside the printer are functioning and connecting correctly can sometimes cure this.
- Smeared print can often be caused by a dirty "wiper" blade inside the printer (popular with HP) – clean the blade and try again. Refer to your User manual for details.
If none of this works you just might have to purchase a new cartridge.
